Focused on embracing simplicity, this project explored the creation of a statement piece of kitchenware for a client of my choosing, designed to be both functional and cherished, a product people feel proud to own. The project concluded with the product being featured in a lifestyle magazine of my choice, highlighting both its aesthetic appeal and place within contemporary living.

Identifying opportunity.
Following an in-depth research phase, I identified a gap during lockdown: many consumers were unable to enjoy quality coffee throughout the week.
As a result, people began educating themselves through at-home coffee machines, exploring the depth of the coffee market and developing new brewing skills. What started during lockdown has since become part of many people’s daily routines, with home brewing continuing to grow in popularity.
My aim was to create a product that complements the creativity and skill of home brewers, while strengthening the personal connection between the brewer and their coffee.
Exploring to define.
Concept exploration quickly identified coffee cups met my aims for the project. This developed into basic form investigation and modelling to help identify opportunities.
Functionality.
Identifying the cup capacity as 8.5oz, perfect for most coffees as well as installing a double wall, protecting consumers hands from becoming too hot whilst holding their coffee.
